The government of Jersey is unveiled
The council of ministers adopted the ‘Government of Jersey’ as the island government’s official identity at home and abroad. This was no mere branding exercise, though: it was an effort to make the executive distinct from the States Assembly, which is the legislature.
It also tidied things up. Ministers had already been using Government of Jersey to describe who they worked for when dealing with contacts overseas, but not at home, where the term States of Jersey was still in daily use.
Alongside the name, the council of ministers unveiled a logo, rendered in Jersey Flag red, with the words Government of Jersey alongside a shield bearing three leopards and a crown.
