Debussy’s La Mer performed for the first time
La Mer, by French composer Claude Debussy, had its first public performance in Paris in October 1905. It had taken 18 months to compose, with work starting in Burgundy and drawing to a close in Eastbourne. Between these, a portion was also completed in Jersey where the sea proved a source of inspiration.
